Belcaro Active Retirement Community

The college town of Valencia hosts an upscale active retirement community called Belcaro.

Stylish detached suburban homes range in price from $600,000 to $800,000 for resale. All maintenance and landscaping are covered by monthly homeowners association fees.

Built in 2004 on 47 creekside acres in the Santa Clarita Valley, the community is a few miles from Magic Mountain and about 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.

At the heart of the community is Grove House, described as “part spa, part resort and part cultural center, where the ambience suggests an "always on vacation" mindset. Resident needs are anticipated at Grove House by combining the services of a concierge and an activities director.

Inside Grove House are a fully-equipped health and wellness center, performing arts theater, art studio and computer learning and conference center. Additional amenities at Belcaro include tennis courts, paddle tennis courts, a swimming pool and hot pool.

The community is gate-guarded with guards on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

State law specifies that in all senior communities one member of the household must be at least 55 years of age, and additional residents 45 years old (with exceptions for caretaker situations), but homes can be purchased and owned by younger buyers.
