Casta del Sol Active Retirement Community
Casta del Sol features homes built along tree-lined streets that wind through a cluster of hills in central Mission Viejo. Many of the homes overlook Lake Mission Viejo or enjoy views of the Casta del Sol Golf Course which adjoin the community.
There are two recreation centers, each with pools and hot pools, a fitness center, tennis courts, chipping green, nature walks, competition-level shuffleboard facility, meeting halls, five-table billiards room and a popular 18-hole golf course just outside the gates. There are more than 30 different clubs, organizations and activity groups at Casta del Sol, among them a travel club, political club, bridge club, square dancing, choir and more. Group tours and outings are often scheduled.
The entire community is within walking distance of Lake Mission Viejo where residents are welcome as members. No license is necessary for boating and fishing at the lake. It's an ideal venue for the family gatherings, social get-togethers, and community events, including a series of big-name concerts, which take place all year long.
Most of the more than 1,900 homes in Casta del Sol are detached, single family residences and they come in a variety of model designs and sizes. The two- and three-bedroom homes have attached one- or two-car garages. Resale prices for Casta del Sol residences range from $250,000 to $600,000 with monthly HOA/maintenance fees in the $300 range. HOA fees include maintenance of greenbelt areas, security patrol and gate guards, exterior painting of homes, recreational facilities, landscaping, sewer and trash services and association management.
One member of the household must be at least 55 years of age in California senior communities, and other members 45 (except in caretaker situations), but homes can always be purchased and owned by younger buyers.
