Palmia Active Retirement Community
The Villages of Palmia have the look of a Mediterranean resort, with graceful palm trees framing 900 pastel homes. This planned development in the foothills at the northern end of Mission Viejo is comprised of detached homes and attached condos in 30 different floorplans all built on 211 acres of the former Rancho Mission Viejo.
Many Palmia residents are still employed in the professions, education, engineering, business and other pursuits. The community has easy access to the Orange County toll road system providing easy commuting to Laguna Woods and other commercial and financial centers of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego counties.
For recreation, a 12,000 square foot clubhouse called Club Palmia houses clubrooms, card rooms, a library, billiards room and a complete exercise facility. A pool, spa, tennis courts and an 18-hole putting course and tennis courts are adjacent.
Palmia residents also enjoy boating, swimming and recreation memberships at Lake Mission Viejo which is about a mile and a half away. There is a year round schedule of community events such as concerts, family gatherings and social get-togethers at the lake.
Resale prices for condos in Palmia start in the $300,000 range, and single-family homes start at around $450,000 with HOA/maintenance fees ranging from $300 to $400 a month for security patrol and gate guards, recreational facilities, landscaping, sewer and trash services.
One member of the household must be at least 55 years of age in California senior communities, and other members 45 (except in caretaker situations), but homes can always be purchased and owned by younger buyers.
